BOSCH EMPLOYEES FORUM
WORKERS’ COMMITMENT TO SOCIETY
Contrary to popular belief that workers are committed only to their factory and machines, and have concern only for themselves and their wages and increments, the workers of Mico Nashik have emphatically proved through Mico Forum that they, as members of society at la are as much concerned with the problems of society and have a deep commitment to society. Mico Forum is thus a shining example of workers concern for society & commitment to society.
Like all big events, Mico Forum too had a small beginning. In 1989 42 employees of Mico come together, with an idea to help ill, suffering poor people from slums and tribal areas with money and medicines. This seed of serving humar that they had thus saw to grew into a big beautiful tree by name Mico Forum (now rename as Bosch Forum)and has now blossomed forth bearing sweet fruits of humanity. Each of these 42 members paid Rs. 10/- per month as contribution. The amount bf individual contribution today remains the same but the original number of members has grown from 42 to two thousand two hundred and seventy only. But this did not happen easily. The founder members had to work hard for that. Practicing what they preached, and preaching what they practiced was their way of work. As work grew, membership grew, as membership grew, work grew. The initial objective of helping the poor and needy with money and medicines has launched out into various health oriented activities. Now there are annual health camps - cataract surgery camps regular lectures by eminent doctors on health related subjects honoring and felicitating eminent persons doing social service in various fields of activities, with its honest, sincere and transparent work, Mico Forum has gained great credibility in society which helps it, in securing sufficient funds from various philanthropic institutions and charitable Trusts for expensive medical treatments like heart operations and cancer care remedies.
Over the years the number of the poor and needy whom Mico Forum has helped has grown into hundreds and thousands. No doubt, numbers are important, but what is really more important is the message that Mico Forum gives to the society. And that message is first helping others live is more meaningful than living for one self and secondly "Service to the Sufficent is the real service the real Dharama(Religen) and doing this service is the Karma(job).
